The most important feedback students receive, will be the documented feedback housed in Google Classroom as well as what is received through ongoing conversations teachers have with their students. This ongoing, formative, anecdotal information is designed to help students improve and grow, identifying specific actions and follow up that is manageable and sustainable for the age and stage of a child. It is most effective when students complete work in a timely manner and parents are encouraged to review this information on an ongoing basis. When this is in place there are more opportunities for students to cycle through reviewing and responding to the feedback. Parents can support the work students do at school by encouraging their child to review and respond to it on an ongoing basis.
For grade 6 - 12 students, we will also provide numerical results for individual summative evaluations and for the overall course. Numerical results provide much less information and can sometimes obscure what other factors are at play, which is why students (and parents) are really encouraged to focus on the feedback provided in Google Classroom and directly from their instructors instead. All numerical summative results are housed in Edvance.
Edvance is a Student Information System. In addition to providing parents with access to numerical results, it is a repository for:
Report Cards and Other Student Reports (eg. OUAC reports for grade 12 students)
Course enrolments
Every parent has access to Edvance through the OneLogin portal. The embedded document below walks you through how to install Edvance.
